Sonoma Estate Wedding

This Sonoma estate wedding celebrated the marriage of Sabrina and Derek. This hidden venue in the California Wine Country is called Sonoma Garden Pavilion. It is tucked away in the lush and rustic Sonoma valley, a secret just a few know about. The brambling vines and untamed gardens make for an authentic Sonoma experience. The couple first held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to honor the parents. It got very emotional, as the parents expressed their pride and joy for their children. This ceremony is an official ritual to introduce the newlyweds to each other’s family, and it’s a way for newlyweds to show respect and appreciation to their parents.  The newlyweds kneel in front of their parents, serving tea to both side of parents, as well as elder close relatives.  Parents give their words of blessing and gifts to the newlyweds.  During the tea presentation, a “Good Luck Woman” would say auspicious phrases to bless the newlyweds and the parents.  These auspicious words of blessing are almost a lost art nowadays, that are designed to bless and amuse the family and make the occasion filled with fun and joy. The western festivities began with Sabrina changing into a lovely white gown and sharing a “first look” with soon to be husband, Derek. The ceremony took place near the pool, with a lovely pavilion covered in roses and blooms. I was inspired by the natural tunnels on the property made with vines. It was an incredibly rustic and romantic atmosphere. The guests enjoyed the wonderful food, warm evening and unforgettable party. Make sure to watch the Wedding Film we created for them, at the end of the post. A true tearjerker.
