Some couples are on the fence whether or not to have an engagement session. But I always say YES! Take a look at some of the reasons why.
1. Build trust
It’s such a blast for me to hang out with my couples prior to the wedding. We get to know each other in ways hard to do over the phone or at a meeting. This is the time I get to feel out your energy, help you relax and show you some great ways to just be yourselves in front of the camera.
2. Lose the anxiety
Being in front of a professional photographer is quite a unique experience. It can be intimidating. It’s nice to lose the anxiety around photography prior to your wedding day.
After hanging out, running around, being silly and having a blast, your anxiety will dissipate and your can check one more thing off your wedding list.
3. Create Memories
You really have a wedding “year.” A time when you’re planning and embarking on a wonderful new phase of your life. Engagement photos in a location other than your wedding can speak to you as a couple in a location special to you. For some it’s a beach, the redwoods or the iconic streets of San Francisco.
4. Experience a professional photo session
It’s hard for couples to imagine how they will look in professional portraits. Having your finished professional photos is probably the most important reason why you should have your engagement photos taken by your wedding photographer. It will give you the opportunity to see what is to be expected for your wedding day and understand how your wedding photos will actually look like.
5. Combine it with your hair and make-up trial
This is a huge one! Schedule your wedding make-up trial the same day as your engagement session. You will like like a rock star and you can see how it photographs just in case you need to make some adjustments. Right?
