San Francisco Wedding Photographer

As a San Francisco wedding photographer, I believe your wedding is the ultimate photo story. My joy is capturing the raw emotion and real moments of the day, the laughter, the tears and the in-between, so you can relive it for years to come. That approach comes from 15 years as a staff photojournalist at the San Francisco Chronicle and more than 30 years behind the camera.

From intimate San Francisco City Hall ceremonies and elopements to full celebrations in Napa, Sonoma and along the coast, I photograph weddings quietly and naturally, so you can be fully present with the people you love. I also photograph weddings in St. Louis and the Metro East.

Where I photograph weddings

  • I’ve had the joy of photographing weddings at some of Northern California’s most beautiful venues, including:

    • Wente Vineyards, Livermore: rolling vineyards and golden hills in the Livermore Valley.
    • Murrieta’s Well, Livermore: a historic estate winery with rustic charm.
    • Bernardus Lodge, Carmel Valley: vineyard views and relaxed luxury near Carmel.
    • Claremont Country Club, Oakland: a classic clubhouse and manicured grounds in the Oakland hills.
    • Mavericks House, Half Moon Bay: coastal celebrations by the ocean.
    • The Faculty Club, UC Berkeley: a historic Arts and Crafts landmark tucked into the Berkeley campus.

Every venue has its own light, layout and rhythm, and I plan ahead so nothing important is missed.

  • San Francisco City Hall: marble staircases and soaring rotunda light for elopements and small ceremonies.
  • Napa and Sonoma wine country: vineyard ceremonies and golden evening receptions.
  • Marin and the coast: ocean bluffs, redwoods and the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Carmel and Big Sur: cypress trees and dramatic coastline.
  • Lake Tahoe: mountain and lakeside weddings.
St. Louis is full of beautiful wedding venues, and as a St. Louis wedding photographer, I love how much variety the region offers. Garden lovers are drawn to the glass walls of the Jewel Box in Forest Park, the Victorian charm of the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park, and the formal gardens of the Missouri Botanical Garden. For classic city elegance, couples choose the historic Grand Hall at St. Louis Union Station, the Chase Park Plaza in the Central West End, or the restored ballroom at The Coronado, often pairing them with a ceremony at the breathtaking Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. Across the river in Illinois, the bluffs above the Mississippi set the scene at Pere Marquette Lodge and Aerie’s Resort in Grafton, perfect for couples who want sweeping fall color and a relaxed, rustic feel. Whatever your style, I’ll help you make the most of your venue’s light and spaces so your photos tell the story of your day.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should we book?
Many couples book 9 to 12 months ahead, especially for spring and fall weekends. City Hall elopements can often be booked on shorter notice.

Do you photograph San Francisco City Hall weddings?
Yes. City Hall is one of my favorite places to photograph, and I know the best spots and light throughout the building.

Do you travel for weddings?
Yes, throughout California, Missouri, Illinois, New Orleans and beyond, and I’m also based part of the year in the St. Louis area.

Can we add an engagement session?
Yes. An engagement session is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. See my engagement gallery
