San Francisco Boudoir Session-Erin

I am thrilled that I am working on a regular basis with women to create portfolios of photographs that celebrate their beauty. Boudoir Photography for me is a modern twist on “glamour” photography. My goal is to create sultry yet elegant photographs of women which they will keep in their lives as timeless treasures. It feels vital to just stop and feel where we are in time and celebrate what we’ve accomplished. Is it ever the “right” time to do this? Only if you accept that power lies in the present moment.

Erin is one of the first brides I photographed over a decade ago. We were still using film back then! I have had the pleasure of following her as she and her husband, Jeremy, began their family and now are proud parents to three darling children. We have shot many family sessions together, but Erin decided it was time to celebrate who she is at this time in her life. She told me, “I have a new appreciation for my body after creating three beautiful children. Now more than ever, I see my body as a miracle.”

I asked Erin to answer a few questions about her session.

Christina: Why did you decide to invest in a Nightingale Boudoir Session?

Erin: I was intrigued by the beautiful images I kept seeing in the Nightingale Photography Facebook & Instagram feed and decided that it would be a nice thing to do for myself–to have some high-quality, professional images taken now that I can look back on years down the road. I knew that they would be taken with a timeless approach–classic images that will never look dated. I love looking at photos of my grandmothers when they were my age, they look so vibrant and beautiful! It’s nice to know that I will have these photos to represent this time in my life.

Christina: Were you nervous about the session and if so, what about?

Erin: I was surprised that I didn’t really feel nervous–there was more of an excitement building up to the day of the shoot.

Christina: How did the session make you feel?

Erin: I felt like a real model! There I was in a beautiful hotel, all done up in hair & makeup, looking down at the busy streets below–in my bra & undies, no less–while the camera clicked away. Just another day for a professional model, I’m sure, but for me it was a truly out-of-the-ordinary experience and i don’t think i’ll forget it anytime soon!

Christina: How did you feel after the session?

Erin: I was on a sort of high for a couple of days afterword–even as I returned to my “real life” of mothering three young children, the experience was truly unique. I didn’t want to unpack my suitcase full of lingerie and shoes… I was in denial that it was over!

Christina: What did you feel/think when you saw your images?

Erin: With the professional level of the photography, lighting, hair and makeup, I knew that the images would be great–and they were. With that said, there were quite a few images that exceeded my expectations. Seeing those particular photos reaffirmed to me the importance of doing this for myself!
