FAQ

How would you describe your style? I spent 15 years as a staff photographer at the San Francisco Chronicle, so capturing candid, authentic moments is my passion. The variety of my assignments gave me the ability to think on my feet, get creative and connect with subjects quickly. My style is a story-telling approach with an artistic eye.

How long have you been a professional photographer? I can’t believe I’ve been working as a professional photographer now for 29 years! It’s been a true privilege working with 100’s wonderful couples and telling family stories through professional photography for decades.

What areas do you serve? Most of my weddings are in the San Francisco Bay Area, Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Monterey, and Tahoe. But, from time to time, clients will hire me for their destination weddings in Hawaii, New Orleans, Arizona, Florida, and beyond. I love to travel!

Have you been published? Why yes! Publications include The San Francisco Chronicle, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Le Monde, Style Me Pretty, Grace Ormonde, 7×7, Borrowed and Blue, and more…

What do your wedding collections include? All my collections include myself and one of my second photographers, with at least 6 hours of wedding day coverage and access to beautiful color-corrected digital images with print permission.

I really want an album, at least 8 hours of coverage, and an engagement session. Great idea! I have wedding collections to fit each couple’s needs.

Do you offer wedding videography? We offer a beautiful slideshow option with snippets of video, with the result of a fabulous music video. A perfectly modern approach.

Do you do family formals or just candids? I do family portraits at all of my weddings, in a fun, relaxed style.

Do we have to think up the poses for our couple portraits? No way! That would be awful. Just show up, and I make sure you look amazing.

Should we do an engagement session? I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to feel confident in photos before your wedding day. It is also an opportunity to have a more casual portrait session in a place you love to be as a couple like San Francisco or the beach. I also suggest to my brides to schedule their hair and make-up trial on the same day as the engagement session. You’ll look beautiful and you can see how it photographs.

Do you shoot destination weddings & elopements? Yes! I do travel for weddings, and all photography sessions. Travel fees are based on the destination and flights, hotel, and rental car. Flights are based out of Sacramento Internation airport. Please inquire about a custom quote.

Do you photograph both indoors and outdoors?

Yes, I am very comfortable working in all types of lighting conditions. I can use available light (my favorite), or I have plenty of lights to create my own lighting (my favorite).

Can we change outfits during the engagement session? Yes, I also recommend it. It creates variety in the final photos and you can finally wear that dress and heels you’ve been dying to put on.

Can we bring our dog? Ummmm…yes, please. I am obsessed with dogs.

How far in advance do we need to book? Depending on the month you’re getting married, I’m often booked a year or two in advance. I limit the number of weddings that I take on each year to assure that I’ll have ample time to focus on each one individually, so it’s worth reaching out sooner rather than later to reserve your date. It’s always best to secure your favorite wedding vendors right away.

Do you edit the photos? Every photo you receive will be fully edited to the extent that you see on my website. This includes tone and white balance adjustment, exposure adjustment, cropping and straightening of the images, black and white conversion (when appropriate), and sharpening. I do not retouch blemishes, remove items in the photos or change a body shape.

When do you recommend starting photographic coverage, and when do you recommend it ends? A typical full day of wedding coverage starts an hour before you get dressed, and ends 20-30 minutes into dancing (or after the last scheduled item you want to be photographed).

We’re eloping, or having a small backyard/city hall wedding and only need a photographer for a couple of hours. Is this something you offer? I adore shooting small weddings/elopements and I’m always happy to provide partial day coverage. Please reach out to discuss your plans and we can figure out how much coverage is right for you.

Do you photograph intimate weddings and elopements at San Francisco City Hall? Yes! Check out some fun examples HERE

How will we receive our photos? Once your photos are ready, you will receive a link to a password-protected online gallery that contains all of the finished photos from your wedding day for you to view, download and share.
