Kim & Ian’s Carmel Beach Elopement

Kim and Ian eloped on June 1^st on Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove, California, on the Monterey Peninsula.

These two met when Kim’s friend introduced them in 2006. At the time, they were both living in Connecticut, where Ian was in his sophomore year of college and Kim was in her junior year of high school. After Ian finished college, they moved in together while Kim was still in school—but once they were both graduated, they decided to move to California to escape the long winters.

They’ve fallen in love with the beaches here in California and knew they wanted to be married on a beach with an eye-catching backdrop. Whether it’s a Carmel wedding, Monterey wedding, or a Big Sur wedding, there is no shortage of gorgeous scenery!

At first, they wanted to use Point Lobos, but they weren’t able to get a permit because of some work going on at the park. So, they visited several beaches in the Carmel and Monterey area and finally fell in love with the secluded, rocky shores at Asilomar.

Before they were married, Kim and Ian got ready separately at Hyatt Carmel Highland on the Big Sur Coast. They staged a first look at the hotel, and they both looked so amazing. Their theme was sea-foam blue, which meant Ian looked dapper in his blue suit and matching sneakers!

Kim and Ian shared their vows alone on the white rocks of the Pacific Coast. That quiet, intimate moment was by far my favorite part of the day. When they were looking at each other, all alone with Monterey Bay behind them, it was plain to see there wasn’t anything better.

We took a few portraits on the beach and at the nearby Point Pinos Lighthouse before we all headed back to the hotel for a toast and some celebratory champagne! It’s always a treat to spend that time with a couple when they are still basking in the glow of being newlyweds.
